Month Hiatus finally back with Hiatus Kaiyote

The point of this blog initially was to share music I've been digging and into lately. Over the entire month of March I was digging deep to find something new, different, progressive, jazzy, and something that was catchy behind it all. My expectations were far beyond met when I found Melbourne natives Hiatus Kaiyote with their song "breathing underwater" The lead vocalist Naomi "Nai Palm" Saalfield has this interesting vocal quality to her that was extremely musical like a Joni Mitchell meets Jamaroqi sound. This band through every song leads you through a powerfully driven neo-soul, jazz "space trip" and it's something way beyond these years. In my opinion this is the future sound of jazz. And I highly recommend taking a listen to a live rendition of "The world it softly lulls" a tune that takes you through many difficult rhythm patterns and has a separate beat breakdown mid song. I legitimately listened to this for the entire month of March on repeat every single day. Someday if you get the chance see these guys live holy shit they are magnificent, and please take me with you...
