The other night I was watching this show from 2015 that later turned into the idea behind the Adult Swim transition animations. This show was titled Off the Air, it consists of a one word title, then a bunch of visual and musical effects that portray that title. The first one I came upon and watched entirely was
Liquid. The episode takes you through multiple visuals with one song or one video with one song. Some videos were quite satisfying while some were quite odd, something adult swim is famous for. One of the most eye catching and also ear catching visuals. Was a song and video by Zach Schimpf a young musician from Saint Louis, Missouri. The song was apart of the album Blue Pool which released the day before Valentines day 2015 and the bio of the album states: "Much of the inspiration for Blue Pool is taken from the visits to an
ominous water-filled rock quarry known locally as the Blue Pool in
Alton, Illinois. Zach began production after visiting the cliffs
surrounding the quarry in 2013. The result is a collection of watery
textures and imagery, attempting to capture the serene tone of the
isolated area hidden among the trees." Much like this album the video portrayed was of that watery texture. The weird twist of the video seems quite odd, but in its short period and with the music surrounding the video it almost feels comforting to the thought of accepting death consuming you. Without any further to do. I would like to share an animation and song by Zach Schimpf titled, "Great River Road" the 11th track of the album Blue Pool that you can find on either bandcamp or soundcloud. Enjoy and listen in to more from Zach Schimpf.
